What a turn out for an AGM! It was fantastic to see that we have regained possession of the Hillarys Yacht Club which was confirmed when 154 financial members and 46 partners turned up for the AGM that although lasting 3 hours, was eventful and informing. A Big High Five & Thank You!

My special thanks to the HYC staff who made sure it was “smooth sailing meeting” by providing the high-level support that made it a pleasure to chair. Regretfully I did forget to mention Vice Commodore Garry Cunningham and his wife Debbie for the days and weeks that they progressively and systematically going through every document and every file on every jetty and every pen. Your efforts have been greatly appreciated and we now have a clear picture of what is reality.

Please be aware that any changes to the Constitution that were passed at the AGM cannot come into effect until the updated Constitution is forwarded to and approved by the Commissioner as per the requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act 2015.

Special thanks also to Past Vice Commodore Brett Bailey and Past Rear Commodore Rob Gillespie whose contributions to HYC were greatly appreciated and we thank you for your time and service on the various committees at the Club.

Members are advised that as agreed at the AGM on the 1st October 2020 all members will be required to show and swipe their members card prior to purchasing food and beverages. If you fail to do this you will be charged the full price of the purchased goods and not provided with your members discount.

SPECIAL WELCOME! I am pleased to advise that HYC has been successful in securing the services of Brad Dawson the current General Manager at the Royal Perth Golf Club as our new General Manager.

Brad is a highly accomplished, result-driven General Manager with over 20 years of high-level experience in both Finance and Club Management. His experience in leading high-performance teams, being able to successfully increase efficiency and productivity, while decreasing costs and inefficiencies will play a vital role in our rebuilding process. Brad’s ability to nurture and grow a business, evaluate opportunities and risks and deliver innovate solutions to challenges will also be a welcoming approach. He has shown to be an excellent communicator with Members, Guests and Staff which will contribute to a positive and productive work environment the will enable HYC to achieve an excellent Club culture, success and Member satisfaction in years to come.

It is expected that Brad will commence employment with HYC on Monday 26 October 2020 however you may see him during visitations to the Club prior to that date so please take the time to introduce yourself to him.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank once again Vice Commodore Garry Cunningham, Independent Member Roric Smith, Independent Panel Member Sally Langer for their valuable time and effort during this recruitment process.

The Members Monthly Theme Night on the 26 September 2020 is fully booked and we have secured the services of two talented flamenco guitarists to provide you with some authentic music on this Argentinean Night! The next Members Monthly Theme Night is now being set for Halloween on 31 October 2020 which will feature food, music and prizes for the best dressed on the night! Bookings will open shortly so make sure that you get in early and secure your tables for a great event that will also include a Micromoon, which is when a Full Moon coincides with apogee, the point in the Moons orbit is farthest away from Earth!
