Keelboats Consistency Race 2
Sophia continued on her winning way at Hillarys Yacht Club in ideal sailing conditions for the second consistency race on Sunday afternoon.
A light south-easterly allowed the use of the spinnaker out to the first mark however the breeze began making it’s shift to the south-west and the fluky conditions tested skippers on the beat back to the coast.
Bruce Utting and the crew on Farrouk used their big asymmetrical spinnaker on three legs of the division one course keeping close to the leading boat Whispering Jack (Bruce Bradford) for a big win. Perle was second and Bad Habits (Ian Holder) third.
In division two the winner was Tim Tucker skippering Show Me with just over a minute separating the first three placegetters. Farrouk (Des and Gail Riley) set a cracking pace to finish three minutes ahead of Volant (Emille Janssen, John Ball, Kevin Meta, Frank Hagemann) however they had to settle for third place on handicap with Volant second.
Tosca (Stuart Marks and Leigh Collins) reigned supreme in an eleven boat fleet in division three finishing almost seven minutes ahead of fastest on the day Deckchairs Overboard (Neil and Wendy Harrison) with Hard Evidence (Peter Hibberd) in third place.
