Consistency Race 3 for Keelboats

Whispering Jack crafted a race winning lead in next to no wind to hang on and take line honours and first on handicap in division one despite a fast finishing fleet coming home with the sea breeze.

The forecast was for a weak breeze strengthening to a ten knot Fremantle Doctor however in between the breeze dropped out altogether forcing a shortening of the course and frustration led to five yachts retiring before the breeze picked up.
The course was further shortened when a starboard mark rounding made the mark redundant.

The rest of the division one fleet were subsequently bunched crossing the line within seconds of each other. Bruce Bradford on Whispering Jack was first with Sophia (Bruce Utting) and Dart Vader (Scott Eiszele and Neil Ireland) taking the minor places.

In division two, handicap winner Show Me (Tim Tucker) had a great tussle with Covert Operation (Bart Brouwer and Graham Atkinson) all the way on the long last leg jostling for position with spinnakers flying. Fastest on the day, however, was Farrouk (Des and Gail Riley) taking second place on handicap with Volant (Emille Janssen, John Ball, Frank Hagemann, Kevin Meta) third.

The ten boat division three fleet was halved with the retirements however the remaining yachts finished within a few minutes of each other. Laraine Brindle on Stelfred was victorious on handicap with Hard Evidence (Peter Hibberd) second (also fastest) and Resolute (Damian Martin) third.
