Consistency Race 7 for Keelboats
With end of season trophies in sight the penultimate consistency race was hotly contested with two place results separated by less than ten seconds.
In glorious sailing weather off Hillarys albeit the winds a little fluky, the yachts tacked back and forth picking the south-easterly wind shifts and getting good use of spinnakers on at least three legs.
Eight yachts in division three were spread out yet two managed to get tangled up and the following results are subject to a protest hearing. First across the line but second on handicap was Hard Evidence (Peter Hibberd) whilst third over the line yet first on handicap was Tosca (Stuart Marks and Leigh Collins). Third was La Premiere (Gary and Julie Beeck).
Blue Chip (Keith and Deborah Fisk) continued on their winning way in division two with a first and fastest beating Farrouk (Des and Gail Riley) by a mere ten seconds across the line with Volant (Emille Janssen, John Ball, Frank Hagemann, Kevin Meta) second on handicap by four seconds and Show Me (Tim Tucker) less than a minute behind in third place. Farrouk was fourth.
It was another close result in division one with Sophia (Bruce Utting) edging out Perle by nine seconds on handicap with Whispering Jack in third place although she was fastest around the course by eleven minutes.
Scott Eiszle and Neil Ireland took Dart Vader out for a run in division one after three months of refurbishment Scott commenting it was nice to be out on the water instead of drilling, plugging holes, sanding and painting. I think everyone would agree with that sentiment.
The Hillarys to Rottnest race on Saturday and the return on Sunday will be conducted on 19/20 February as part of the eight race Ocean Series.
