Winter Race 3
With the cancellation of the second race due to gale-force winds fresh in their minds a forecast of twenty knots from the north-east didn’t deter a large fleet of twenty three HYC yachts to embrace the chilly conditions for the third winter race on Sunday.
Revelling in the strong wind Sally Malay (Ian Walker) was first home in division one followed by Mulberry (Mark Pitt) and La Premiere (Gary and Julie Beeck) with fastest on the day and fourth Deckchairs Overboard (Neil and Wendy Harrison). We look forward to some close racing between the four Beneteau First 35s this season and adding Lithium to the mix will be the icing on the cake.
In division two Tim Tucker on Show Me continued his run of success winning ahead of Sheer Magic (Tony Waymouth) and Greg Hill on Not Negotiable. Covert Operation (Bart Brouwer and Graham Atkinson) was fastest.
Comfortably Numb (Steve OKeeffe) had a comfortable win in division three with Jack Tar (Bill Gilbert) second and fastest and Catabatic (Rob Bills) third.
Receiving the “Bunny Award” was a reminder for one to log on with the tower before the race, a must for everyone. A big thank you to Louise Harvey and Katie Tucker for their excellent work in the tower, some of those finishes were pretty close, even a dead-heat!
