Winter Race 6 2020
With the third fastest time of the division one fleet, Hard Evidence (Des and Gail Riley, Marshall Fox) held off the Beneteau First 35s to record a second consecutive win in the Winter Series race six held in ideal conditions off Hillarys on Sunday. One of the First 35s Haywire (Ian and Marie Conboy) with renowned trimmer and sailmaker Peter Carstens on board was fastest and second, whilst Deckchairs Overboard (Neil and Wendy Harrison), another First 35 was third.
Belying the generous handicap Mark Taylor and crew sailed Helga superbly to record second fastest time and won in division two ahead of the fastest on the day, Not Negotiable (Greg Hill) with Volant (Emille Janssen, John Ball, Frank Hagemann, Kevin Meta) third.
Winning in division three Vaya Con Dios (Chris Blackney) was less than a minute ahead of Intuition (Marc Carpenter) with Comfortably Numb (Steve OKeeffe) third. Bill Gilbert on Jack Tar was fastest.
A resail of a race missed due to the gale-force winds will be on next Sunday August 30 making it the fifth race for the season, permitting a single drop for competitors in the race for the Winter Race Trophy.
In division one progressive scores best-placed is Mulberry on 13 with Hard Evidence 14.5 and Deckchairs Overboard 17.
In division two Show Me is on 11, Volant 14 and Not Negotiable 17.
It is close in division three with Intuition on 13, Comfortably Numb 14 and Vaya Con Dios 15.
