Consistency Race 2
It was a classic boat on boat duel between two division one yachts in the second consistency race for the season sailed in a twelve knot westerly breeze off Hillarys on Sunday. Although there were nine starters in that division Deckchairs Overboard (Neil and Wendy Harrison) went bow to bow with Surfer Rosa (Roric Smith) way out in front with Surfer Rosa crossing the line first but conceding first on handicap to Deckchairs Overboard who also claimed first on IRC (International Rating Certificate). Wayne Pitcher stepped off Lithium after sailing an offshore ocean race the day before in horrid conditions to skipper Whispering Jack into third place behind Surfer Rosa.
In a depleted division two fleet Blue Chip (Keith and Deborah Fisk) was first and Covert Operation (Bart Brouwer and Graham Atkinson) second although fastest on the day. Volant (Emille Janssen, John Ball, Frank Hagemann, Kevin Meta) was third.
The division three fleet of seven yachts who sail with just jib and mainsail were very competitive with one and half minutes separating first from fourth. Marc Carpenter on Intuition won ahead of Sensei (Brett and Lynda Bailey) and Tosca (Stuart Marks and Leigh Collins). Salamander (John Swift) was fastest.
