North Coast Series Day 2
Twenty yachts from Hillarys Yacht Club and Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club enjoyed the second day of racing in the North Coast Series on Sunday in a brisk southerly breeze that filled in during the morning to 15 knots.
In division one Scott Forrest on Whim A Way excelled for Ocean Reef with a win and third placing and was backed up by Leda (Frank Centa) who was second in one race and Hot Gossip (Ian Campbell) and Bull Bar (Jeremy Leitch) not far behind.
For Hillarys Neil Harrison on Deckchairs Overboard also with a win and a third placing, was well supported by Whispering Jack (Bruce Bradford) with a second placing; each recording a fastest time. Bad Habits (Ian Holder) and Perle both finished in the top six of thirteen boats.
Whilst the competition was fairly even in division one the Hillarys yachts filled the top four places in both races of division two. They were Covert Operation (Bart Brouwer and Graham Atkinson) for a win and fastest time in both races, Blue Chip (Keith and Deborah Fisk) for two seconds, Catabatic (Rob Bills) for a win and Volant (John Ball, Emille Janssen, Frank Hagemann, Kevin Meta) for a third placing.
Feelin Free (Alan Peacham) and Quicksilver (Terry OGrady) finished fifth and sixth respectively in both races for Ocean Reef.
After the first race Hillarys had extended their one point lead for the North Coast Trophy to twenty and after the second race to twenty six points, however there are still three days of competitive racing to come in the series.
