North Coast Series Day 4
The deckchairs certainly were thrown overboard from Neil and Wendy Harrison’s Deckchairs Overboard as they pulled out all stops to record a first, second and third placing in an attempt to keep Hillarys Yacht Club ahead of Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club on the penultimate day of racing in the North Coast Series.
On Sunday February 21 the first race was sailed in a light easterly off Mullaloo however a brisk sea breeze filled in for the next two races testing team work and equipment.
In division one Deckchairs Overboard was ably supported by Perle with a win and a second placing and in division two there was none better than Rob Bills’ Catabatic with two wins and a second together with a fastest time. Show Me (Tim Tucker), Volant (Emille Janssen, Frank Hagemann, Kevin Meta and John Ball) and Covert Operation (Bart Brouwer and Graham Atkinson) also placed well for Hillarys.
For Ocean Reef Ian James’ Taurus with a first and third placing in division one was well supported by Whim A Way (Scott Forrest), Bull Bar (Jeremy Leitch) and Leda (Frank Centa). In division two a first and third placing for Ken and Helen Wood’s Louisa helped Ocean Reef’s cause however it wasn’t to be enough.
The one point lead of Hillarys had been extended to just twelve 394-406 at the end of the day’s racing pointing to a final showdown in March to see who will win the North Coast Series for season 2021.
