Required Documentation

Hillarys Yacht Club prides itself on having a high standard of boat safety and adherence to safe operating practices. In this regard, a marina compliance inspection of every vessel located within the Club is required within 30 days of occupying a pen. Re-certification is required every five years. A Marina Facilities Section Committee member carries out inspections in the presence of the boat owner and cover aspects such as mooring lines, power supply, batteries, gas connections/detectors, fuel lines and safety equipment.

A marina compliance inspection and any necessary works required must be completed within 30 days of the boat occupying the pen. Overdue fees apply for late completion.

Before pen occupancy and a safety inspection, the following documents are required to be lodged:

  • Boat Particulars Form
  • Current Vessel Registration
  • Current Insurance with at least $10M public liability
  • Electrical compliance certification from a licensed electrician or the vessel’s manufacturer stating that the vessel meets Australian Standards AS 3000 & 3004
  • Gas compliance certification completed by a licensed installer following the Office of Energy gas regulations.
Compliance Certification provided in previous years shall be accepted where no subsequent gas or electrical change or modification require a vessel to be reassessed for compliance to the Department of Energy and Safety Regulations as supported by these Bylaws. Electrical and Gas Compliance Certifications shall be valid for up to 5 years.

A Marina Facilities Section Committee member will arrange a mutually suitable time for an inspection once the above documents have been lodged with the Club office. Upon completion of a satisfactory inspection, the vessel owner will be issued with a compliance sticker to be displayed in a prominent position on the vessel.

Once the requested documents have been supplied, an annual pen rental agreement will be prepared and sent out for signing.

Temporary Pen Accommodation

Hillarys Yacht Club is renowned for its warm welcome to all visiting fleets and vessels from other aquatic clubs. Why don’t you see for yourself and sail to Hillarys for a weekend and enjoy the superb surroundings and relaxed atmosphere? Our pleasant staff and Club members assist in making every visitor feel at home.

Before arrival, contact should be made with Hillarys Yacht Club within office hours Monday to Friday to confirm availability of vessel accommodation, and it is requested that a copy of your current vessel insurance and registration, including membership card or letter of introduction from the aquatic club of which you are a member, is provided before arrival. Charges apply for vessels staying more than two nights, and a deposit may be required for temporary swipe cards.

Long-Term Lease Pens

The remainder of an existing long term lease may be purchased from a Club member. After completing the transfer of the lease, an annual pen service fee and one-off stamp duty and administration fee are also applicable.

Subleased Pens

A member's leased pen may be sublet to another member privately or through the Club once the Management Committee approves. Should the leaseholder wish for the Club to manage the sublease, 95% of rental monies shall be disbursed to the leaseholder and 5% shall be disbursed to the Club. Annual Club Rental Pens cannot be sublet unless for a limited time and with the express permission of the Management Committee. If the lessee wishes to manage the sublet privately, a sublet fee is applicable.
