Wayne Pitcher’s J122 Lithium has achieved a milestone success being announced as the overall runner-up in the Ocean Racing WA (ORWA) 2022-23 Siska Series during last month’s ORWA presentation dinner.

Improving on last year’s impressive fourth-place result, Lithium earned its title as the second-best boat this past season in the very competitive ORWA fleet, finishing behind only the TP52 Crush. Competing against larger, sportier boats, and some sailed with professional crews, Wayne’s J122 Lithium maintained consistently good results throughout the 12 races to achieve this exceptional outcome. Lithium also won the Corinthian Cup, successfully defending their 2021-22 title as the best amateur crew in the ORWA fleet. Crew onboard Lithium throughout the past season included Wayne Pitcher, Neil Harrison, Jos Calvin, Eleanor Wise, Lewis Walsh, Ray Murphy, Chris Pratt, Matthew Lockton, Brett Walsh, Maxime Goudeau, Barney Pountney and Ken Collett.

The dedication, resources and time needed to compete, let alone be successful, at this high level of keelboat racing is not insignificant, and HYC applauds the efforts of Wayne and crew and congratulates them on their success.
