Green Fleet & Intermediate Training

INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Green Fleet is a development initiative to encourage young sailors who have completed Tackers 3, to continue and begin learning how to race. Through training and racing with Green Fleet, and as a part of the Club Racing program, students will move through higher-level squads to prepare for State and National level competition. The next level up is Optimist Intermediate Squad, where training continues at the exact times/dates but becomes more intense. The two squads usually train separately. However sometimes train together.

PREREQUISITES

To qualify to join Green Fleet or Intermediate Squad, sailors require the following:

  • Current/Financial Junior Membership
  • A Boat – Either your own Optimist hires a Club Poly Tackers Optimist for their first term of sailing.
  • Tackers 3 Completion Certificate or Equivalent (must be approved by Hillarys Yacht Club Dinghy caption or Training coordinator)

For those who would like a refresher from their previous Green Fleet Training and also Tackers 3 graduates who are keen to advance their sailing skills.

The training is focused on developing sailors' ability to start a race, sail the course, and finish. Fit in some practice and build your boat handling skills.

REGISTRATION OPTIONS
Greenfleet CAMP: 4x sessions
School Holidays Tuesday 1st Oct to Friday 4th October 8.30 am-12.30 pm

Greenfleet Saturdays: 4x sessions
12th & 26th October, 2nd & 9th November 8.30am-12.30pm

GreenFleet Camp & Saturdays: 8x sessions
Combined package, inclusion of all dates mentioned above. Discounted price.

PREREQUISITES
To qualify to join Green Fleet or Intermediate Squad, sailors require the following:

  2. Tackers 3 Completion Certificate or Equivalent experience (must be approved by Hillarys Yacht Club Senior Coach or Training coordinator)
  3. A Boat – Either your own Optimist or Laser or the Club can hire out Poly Tackers Optimist for their first term of sailing.
